Reader Reactions
- Colleen Gaughan - I would be completely opposed to Dracula’s scheme because I would not want to be stripped of my personal autonomy. I do not like to be forced to do anything and I do not like the idea of mind control which is the basis of Dracula’s plot.
- David Barry - Well, obviously, I would not want to be enslaved as part of Dracula’s army. As a character in the novel, especially Mina or Lucy, I would attempt to stop this at all costs. I would have to attempt to prevent the enslavement and control over my companions and me. After reading the novel, I would know that caring for one’s companions would be what gave me the advantage here. While Dracula only cared for himself, and he wanted to control the world and be powerful, the other main characters all fought him to protect Lucy, Mina, or any of their other companions.
- Ben Pugh - I would not be ok with Dracula trying to take over the world. I wouldn’t be ok with it because I would not like to be under his control, and basically be enslaved by him. I also think that it would be very hard for Dracula to take over the world after a while, because his methods for doing so would become obvious to the people, and the people would most likely want to stop him. So with the amount of people wanting to stop him, versus just Dracula trying to take over the world, the odds for Dracula’s success are very low.
